Home Care in Toronto

Home care in toronto is a service that helps people stay in their homes and communities for as long as possible. It includes services provided by regulated health care professionals, non-regulated workers, friends and family caregivers.

Providing care at home rather than in a hospital or long-term care facility allows clients to live more independently and enjoy their quality of life, while also protecting them from the risks of developing a serious health problem. These services include nursing care, personal care, home support, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, respiratory therapy, social work and dietetics.

A Home Care Service Provider Organization (HCPO) is a government-appointed entity, based in Ontario, that provides nursing care, personal care, home support and other health care services at home to individuals of all ages. HCPOs are responsible for an estimated 54 million hours of publicly and family-funded home care service annually across the province.

The Association’s mission is to advance the development and growth of the home care sector through advocacy, knowledge transfer and member service. The Association is a member-based organization that represents providers of home care services from across Ontario, collectively serving an estimated 28,000 staff members who deliver services to 350,000 Ontarians per year.

Our approach to senior home care focuses on learning and understanding the evolving needs of our clients, including their daily challenges and home environments. From the first care consultation through to ongoing case management and open communication, our approach ensures that older adults receive the best home health care Toronto has to offer.

What is Home and Community Care?
In Ontario, a home and community care service is defined as a service that helps people to remain in their homes and communities for as long as they wish. It includes services provided by regulated health professionals, non-regulated workers, friends and other members of the community.

As a result of increased health concerns and an ageing population, there is a greater demand for home and community care services. Currently, there are more than a thousand service provider organizations (HCPOs) that provide home care services in Ontario.

Each HCPO is accountable for the quality and safety of the service it delivers to its clients. All HCPOs are required to adhere to the standards and expectations set out by Home Care Ontario, a provincial association that advocates for a strong, reliable and accessible home care system.

A home and community care system enables older adults to age in place and stay connected with their families, friends, local services and community activities. This ensures that they have the support they need to stay as healthy and independent as possible while living a fulfilling, active lifestyle.

Choosing the right type of home care for your loved one is not always easy, but it can be essential in maintaining their quality of life and in making sure they are safe and secure at all times. A home care service can be delivered during the day, overnight or 24/7 in the comfort of your loved one’s home, depending on their needs. Montreal home care
